Project Brief
The brief was to create a large outside seating & dining space. This included blending the existing patio into a new platform, and creating an inviting pergola that controlled the sun during periods of the day, and provided a weatherproof cover. We used composite decking boards to create a flush extension to original patio and battened the adjacent fence to create a clean and usable space. With the pergola, we created 3 large aluminium ‘goal post’ frames with spanning aluminium sections between. To soften the deep grey of the frame, we clad the intermediate beams in Iroko. With the roof, we designed in a motorised louvre roof that gave the client full control of the amount of light was allowed into the space during the course of the day. When fully closed the roof becomes waterproof and drains the water into 2 outlets hidden within the vertical posts. Within the roof beams, we fitted dimmable spot lights the illuminated the space in the evenings. The lights we operated via remote control.
Materials used:
- 200mm x 100mm Aluminium frame work
- 200×18 Machined Iroko Timbers
- Motorised Aluminium Louvre Roof – remote operated.
- Warm White LED strip Lights – operated on remote and dimmable
- Colour: RAL 7016 textured
