Project Brief
The client had a very contemporary bungalow, and an eye for design. The property had a large driveway that was surrounded by large or ‘Tall Tree’s’. The client wanted to add a car port in the corner of the driveway that protected the cars from falling debris but also elevated the overall design of the property. The brief was to create a structure that had real impact and used design inspiration from ‘Californian’ inspired properties. We used shot blasted steel to create a black framework – with the angle and level of the driveway, we decided to work with the levels and created a very unusual and ‘twisted’ shape. We then lined the roof with a high grade roofing membrane and pitched the roof to flush rainwater down one of the support legs. To create a striking feature, we introduced machined Iroko beams to the side elevation to close the space off slightly and add the contemporary feature the client was looking for. Within the ceiling, we lined Iroko battens and set LED strip lighting between too create a stunning impact when arriving at the property. The lights where fitted with sensors which illuminated as you approached the car port.
