Project Brief
To design a bespoke pergola to cover a large seating/patio area. With a densely wooded area surrounding the plot, the space was nearly unusable due to falling debris. The clients brief was not to only make the space usable, but to create an attractive architectural piece which felt inviting. We designed the concept using a steel sub frame for stability, then secured a high grade rubberised flat roof. We angled the roof with a dramatic angle to open the design up to the rest of the garden then clad the underside with machined Western Red Cedar Battens. To illuminate the space we then include LED warm white strip lighting between. This made the space usable during the warm evening and gave the client the ability to create a feature in the garden when sitting inside the main property.
