Project Brief

Being on the coast with a South facing façade, the building was suffering with overheating. We were brought into to help the client reduce solar heat gain within the property. We used motorised telescopic aluminium sliding shutters on the upper levels to give the client maximum control. The shutters where fitted with aluminium louvres angled at 45° to shade – angled in such a way, the louvres are very effective in providing shade but also allows access to the stunning seaside view from within the property. On the ground floor we introduced a top hung brise soleil system in front of the clients home office and a bespoke brise soleil pergola over the ground floor bedroom. We used a timber effect powder coat for all the louvres to create a softer finish. On coastal areas, natural timber fades extremely quickly, so using timber effect aluminium was a great way of getting the natural look while reducing the deterioration of the colour.

Materials used:

  • 50×50 aluminium shutters – motorised on remote
  • 120×120 pergola frame with 150mm aerofoil louvres
  • 100mm aerofoil top hung brise soleil
  • Colour: RAL 7016 textured & timber effect aluminium
